DYT has fed into the Labour Party’s National Education Service policy.

DYT welcomes the vision set out in the proposal. However, we call on the charter and specific policies that will follow to strongly commit to supporting SEND learners and developing an inclusive education system.

It is important to recognise that some learners will not be able to reach a
certain standard of reading and writing due to having a literacy difficulty.
However, this does not mean that these children cannot go on to live a
fulfilling and successful life. We call on the National Education Service to cater
for the needs of these learners so that they are able to access the curriculum
whether through increasing the availability and effectiveness of specialist
services or through the better use of assistive technology.
