As we enter an exciting new school year, we want you to know how much we value your support in helping us support SEND and dyslexic learners.
Whether you are a governor, teacher, parent or pupil, your support is the foundation that allows us to fight for effective policy change and practice improvements for those pupils who struggle with literacy.
We wholeheartedly encourage our members at every level to get involved in our work and advocacy (keep an eye out for upcoming events). As we move into September, here are some of the more general ways you can be involved in the work we do here at DYT and beyond.
In this month’s edition:
Parent? Governor? Teacher? Do you know about Drive for Literacy?
Drive for Literacy, our flagship literacy programme, is a great way to take a whole school approach to the improvement of literacy for SEND and dyslexic learners.
As a primary or secondary stakeholder in your community, you can often hold the key to help us bring DfL to your school. We would love to work with you to implement our exciting programme and help drive up literacy in your school and local area. Follow this link for further information on the Drive for Literacy Programme.
Download our free, universal Drive for Literacy Toolkit, which has a wide range of resources that support schools in planning dynamic lessons and delivering effective literacy.
Building a SEND community
Come to one of our many events throughout the year to help us build a community within SEND professionals and advocates to solidify a unified approach to the SEND agenda and promote effective professional practice.
We are encouraging as many schools as possible to join us in playing an active role at theWhole School SEND Summit. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an exciting Summit developing the conversation around SEND provision.
Our Senior Consultant Teacher Jules Daulby invites you to an exciting new professional development programme to become a SEND Advocate – for those who wish to bring their experience as a SEND specialist to a wider audience.
