About Drive for Literacy (DfL)

Drive for Literacy is our flagship, whole-school programme for schools, where we work in collaboration with you to create a culture where outcomes are improved for learners with literacy difficulties.

One of our experts will work with your whole school on a repeated annual cycle of continued support. From leaders to teaching assistants, SENCos to parents and governors, the programme will identify focus areas so that literacy provision is improved for all students.

To ensure the highest quality of delivery we have an application process for Drive for Literacy. Driver Youth Trust provides bursaries for schools most in need of support. The application process for 2019/20 is now open.

What Schools Say

Drive for Literacy is evidence-based. Feedback from the schools we work with informs how we develop the programme and feeds into our resources. Here’s what some of our partner schools have said about Drive for Literacy.

“What I’ve found really useful is it fits in with our working week. We don’t have to stop doing what we normally do. Our DfL Facilitator has been part of the school and the school’s strategic planning.”

Aspire AP

“We had a very successful Ofsted this school year and DfL helped to contribute to this success.”

Ark Bentworth

“This programme was beyond our expectations. We feel supported by the up-to-date expert advice but also hearing about the good practice in other schools was extremely helpful in improving our policy.”

The Green School

“It’s a bespoke service that identifies the needs and gaps that our learners have. It makes it very specific and allows departments to share that good practice as well.”
