DYT welcome additions to Ofsted handbook

DYT’s Top story:

Ofsted have published the new inspection framework and handbook following a consultation earlier in the year. DYT welcome that some of our recommendations have been taken on including the addition of two references to the SEND Code of Practice in the revised framework.

We also welcome a tweet from Ofsted confirming they want to find out how “schools supports children who find reading harder”. Inspectors will look in detail at the progress of the bottom 20% of learners at a school.

The Education Committee concludes the SEND inquiry with a DfE focused panel; Nick Gibb, Nadhim Zahawi and SEND adviser Dr André Imich all making an appearance. 

Wednesday

MPs will debate the DfE’s plan for an international education strategy to promote British education across the world. The Lords will ask the government about the introduction of British Sign Language into the school examination curriculum and on maintaining appropriate standards in the delivery of free school meals.
